Y2K problemsCINDY report headers are not Y2K compliantProblem definition, as reported by Gene Carbaugh"I just noticed a probably insignificant Y2K item in CINDY. I'm copying the other PNNL staff I know who use this code so they can be aware of it. Each CINDY run printout has a Report Date as part of the heading on each page of printout. The indicated date for pre Y2K was of the MM/DD/YY format (example, 10/05/99). I just noticed that the runs I have been doing since 12/31/99 are showing the following: MM/DD/:0. Instead of two zeros, the year is being shown as a colon followed by a zero. Doesn't seem to have impacted anything else. Is this a standard nomenclature?" Response from Dennis Strenge, CINDY developer Gene, "The problem is related to handling of the date in the code, possibly because of Y2K problems in the function that returns the current date or maybe the programming that uses the date. We have been aware of the problem for about a year. The problem is minor and only impacts the reported date. The code correctly handles dates supplied by the user in bioassay data. The numerical estimates presented by the code are not impacted by this date problem. You are the first to notice the problem and report it to me. I expect to hear from others also. We have reported the problem to Canberra (last year) and to any others that have asked about Y2K readiness of CINDY." |
